President Rouhani extends congratulations to new Armenia president

He voiced confidence that given to deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations, mutual cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan will be expanded more than past.

Rouhani wished health and success for the new president and prosperity and honor for Armenian people.

Armenian parliament voted by majority to elect Armen Sarkissian, candidate of the ruling party of Republican, as new president of the country.

Presidency tenure in Armenia is five years and former President Serzh Sargsyan held the post for two terms.
